Dad’s BBQ Pork Rub

BBQ-Pork-Rub

There are some things you have in your spice cabinet that you never use.  And there are some things you ALWAYS use.  I use a lot of paprika, garam masala, cinnamon… and my Dad’s BBQ pork rub, which I make in batches and use on pork and chicken for the barbecue.  It is really amazing rub and it’s got a good kick to it!  I hope you enjoy it 🙂

Dad’s BBQ Pork Rub

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • 3 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 3 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp dried oregano
  • 3 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp dried sage
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp chili powder

combine everything.  You can store it for up to 6 months in a spice container.

If making with pork, rub all over the pork and let marinade for at least an hour.  For chicken, at least overnight. It also works very well to rub on a roast chicken with some honey for a rotisserie style barbecue.
